Biography

Andrew M. Jacobson is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer who represents clients in a wide variety of complicated, high-stakes cases. His practice focuses on complex civil and business litigation, wildland fire litigation, insurance bad faith, professional and legal malpractice, employment litigation, class actions, and catastrophic personal injury/wrongful death cases.

Mr. Jacobson works tirelessly and aggressively to obtain the best possible outcomes for his clients. He has boldly represented consumers, homeowners, (and celebrities) against some of America’s largest and wealthiest corporations, often toe-to-toe with the most highly regarded law firms in the Country. Unlike other lawyers, he meticulously prepares each case for trial from the onset.

Mr. Jacobson has vast experience representing property and commercial business owners affected by wildfires caused by public utility companies throughout California. He has personally helped recover close to $300 million dollars in damages for homeowners affected by wildfires.

In 2013, he represented homeowners who lost their homes as a result of the Sayre Fire in Sylmar, California. In that case, he litigated a complex theory of liability all the way to the eve of trial against Southern California Edison. The case was ultimately settled in the high 9 figures.  Mr. Jacobson currently represents home owners affected by the Round Fire, Butte Fire and recent Wine Country Fires in Sonoma and Napa and Ventura County fires.  He is well versed in unique areas of the law, including inverse condemnation and related recoverable damages and also highly technical electrical engineering principles.

He is also currently representing thousands of home owners affected by the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak in Porter Ranch, California.  He is on the Plaintiff Steering Committee and responsible, along with a handful of other lawyers, for preparing the case for trial, and obtaining a just result for those impacted by the Blow Out.

In addition to his mass tort practice, Mr. Jacobson has obtained many large trial verdicts in complicated wrongful death cases.  In 2015, he obtained a $10,000,000 verdict in a wrongful death trial in Los Angeles Superior Court, which was listed as a top 50 Verdict in the State. He is also currently trial counsel in several cases against cigarette manufacturers in the State of Florida.  Mr. Jacobson represents families of deceased smokers who began smoking as teenagers in the 1940s and 1950s, which was years before cigarette manufacturers placed warnings on their products. He obtained millions of dollars in jury verdicts for his clients, including a recent $3,000,000 verdict in September, 2016.

Mr. Jacobson is a Los Angeles native. He earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law after also receiving his undergraduate degree also from UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude.  While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Hon. James A. Kaddo and the Hon. Soussan Bruguera, where he gained unparalleled experience and insight into the workings of the bench.  Prior to joining the firm, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) selected Mr. Jacobson to serve as a fellow for its annual program upon his completion of law school.  During this fellowship, he gained a unique and enriching experience working with both defense and plaintiff firms and the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Mr. Jacobson is a member of multiple local, state and national bar associations. He is a member of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL), Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), and American Bar Association (ABA).
